The tufted titmouse is a familiar sight around North America - and also a widespread type of bird you'll see at backyard feeders. The tufted titmouse is a medium-sized bird that weighs about 13 grams. It has a grayish-black cap, gray face, and brick red cheeks. Its belly is white with black stripes, and the back is reddish or brownish. The tufted titmouse has white eyebrows and white wing bars.

Males are generally slightly larger than females. Both sexes have an average wingspan of about 17 inches, but the males are usually larger.
